🌿🚜 Praja Shakthi 2026 – “One Thousand Projects in One Thousand Villages” Program Successfully Launched 🚜🌿

Under the Praja Shakthi 2026 – “One Thousand Projects in One Thousand Villages” program, which is being implemented to enhance rural infrastructure development within the Badalkumbura Divisional Secretariat Division, the inaugural ceremony of the project to develop the drainage canal at the tail end of the South Canal of Kongahawawa in the Katugahagalge Grama Niladhari Division was commenced today under the patronage of Hon. Deputy Minister R. M. Jayawardhana.

In addition, work was also commenced today on:

✅ The project to develop the irrigation canal in the Udawela Hewanara cultivation area of the Madugasmulla Grama Niladhari Division; and

✅ The project to develop the irrigation canal in the Kolaniya cultivation area of the Therappahuwa Grama Niladhari Division.

These projects are expected to make a significant contribution to rural development by improving water management for agricultural activities, strengthening the livelihoods of farming communities, and enhancing agricultural productivity.

🪔 Vesak Devotional Song Program – Badalkumbura 2026 🪔

To mark the 2026 Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, a Buddhist devotional song program organized by the Badalkumbura Divisional Secretariat was successfully held in Badalkumbura Town.

The event was enriched by devotional song performances presented jointly by the Badalkumbura Divisional Secretariat, Badalkumbura Police Station, Badalkumbura Zonal Education Office, Badalkumbura District Hospital, Badalkumbura Pradeshiya Sabha, the business community, and members of the Muslim community. Their participation further enhanced the spiritual significance of the Vesak celebration.

In addition, a team comprising field officers of the Divisional Secretariat organized a chickpea (kadala) alms-giving stall for all attendees, thereby contributing to a meritorious act of generosity and charity.
